FX Elects Julie Cortés as ‘26-’27 Term President

The Freelance Exchange (FX) of Kansas City recently held its board elections for the 2026-2027 term, at which Julie Cortés—the founder of FX—was elected president.

Julie will help lead the vision and momentum of FX, playing part community cheerleader, part strategic guide, and part fearless organizer.

The President steers the organization forward, leads Board meetings, supports committees, collaborates with fellow leaders, and makes sure big ideas actually turn into action. The individual in this role also helps oversee major decisions, partnerships, and organizational priorities while helping maintain the welcoming, supportive culture that makes FX what it is.

No stranger to this role, this is (maybe?) the fourth time she’s served as president since the club’s inception in 2003. The professional organization serves the local business community by offering education, networking, social and promotional opportunities to advertising / marketing freelancers and solopreneurs as well as a free resource for the community to find the talent they need easily and for free.
